Today we ventured into la selva (the jungle) in Cahuita National Park.
Today we ventured into la selva (the jungle) in Cahuita National Park.
There are many many ants here (hormigas) including carnivorous ones.
Un serpiente. This little guy was very hard to see. Apparently the smaller the snake, the more dangerous it is.
La araña de oro. The golden spider. Even though they look scary they are harmless and our guide would touch them in their webs. Que miedo! (How scary!)
Un mono. Monkeys in the trees!
There are also many many crabs here (cangrejos)
Crikey! I spotted a Natal!
Hermit crabs
Las hormigas
The beaches at Cahuita are a little harder to get to, but they are worth it. I wish we had brought some food for a picnic and hung out a little longer at the beach, but it was very hot and after hiking we were ready to go back to our cool cabinas. We were lucky enough to catch a ride in the bed of someone's truck along with another French family that was traveling too back to the main road, where we caught a bus back to the town Cahuita.
