7/6/14
Today we spent the day at Playa Manzanillo and the Gandoca-Manzanillo Refuge.
Later in the evening it started raining... a lot. I guess it tends to do that in these parts all the time. Unlike the rest of Costa Rica, the Caribbean coast's seasons are indefinido (there are no seasons). Some days it rains, some days there's sun. It could change a lot from one day to the next. During this very rainy night we got soaked wandering around looking for a good place to eat dinner. I will admit there aren't too many options. We ended up stopping at an Italian restaurant for happy hour and they were also showing a movie so we couldn't resist. The mushroom ravioli was ok but it filled our tummies and we got to see the beginning of Transcendence (with Spanish subtitles). The movie actually looked good I want to finish it someday. But we were wet and wanted to go back to our cabina to relax and so that's exactly what we did.

After a day in Manzanillo Natalie and I ventured on our own into Cahuita without the Ticos. Truth be told it was nice to not have to share a bedroom and bathroom with stinky boys anyways. It was just us girls in the Cabinas Caribe Luna. Cahuita is much more quiet than Puerto Viejo. It mostly caters to tourists and we happened to arrive during the Calypso music festival, but like I said it still is a quiet town. It is also very small and from the bus stop we easily walked to our cabina, stopping at Willie's Tours along the way. We got to meet Chase (an American working there temporarily) and Jorge (the owner). We arranged a guided hike into Cahuita National Park as well as a tour in the Sloth Sanctuary a few miles north.
