Happy birthday America! Too bad I spent this day outside of the country. I mostly spent this day traveling to Manzanillo on the Caribbean coast by bus. It was a rather long bus ride and a little bit scary with the bus passing semi-trucks on one-lane roads, but it was a cheap, efficient way to get to the Rasta side man. Natalie and I went on this adventure with Ramses (our friend and host), Roma (Ramses' brother), and Luis (Ramses' friend). It was really nice to be in a group of Ticos (Costa Ricans) exploring the country by bus. Finally, 6 hours later, we arrived in Manzanillo at our hostel Se Ua. We had a bedroom, bathroom, and outdoor kitchen and patio with a nice relaxing hammock. We could step outside and the jungle was right off of our patio!
During the night I woke up a couple of times to the shouts of howler monkeys. They sound like a mix between a roaring bear, dog, and a monster (scary). The jungle was buzzing with life at dawn. The bugs were the loudest I had ever heard them along with the monkeys. I tried to look out the window to see anything but had no luck. So I just went back to sleep in order to take on the next day...
